The challenge
Technologylab has been supporting Complete Projects' IT needs for over ten years, so when the business decided it needed to certify to the Cyber Essentials standard, it called on us to deliver a rapid, practical programme of work.
The motivation was twofold. They wanted to improve their overall security posture, and to give customers clear confidence that data was being protected to a recognised standard. The challenge lay in achieving certification without disrupting day-to-day operations or compromising the flexibility of a remote workforce.
What we did
We developed a structured programme that addressed both compliance and everyday protection.
The first stage was preparing for Cyber Essentials itself. We conducted a comprehensive IT security audit, identified the areas that required remediation, and updated their IT policies and configurations to align with the scheme's requirements. This work ensured the organisation was well positioned to pass the assessment with confidence.
In parallel, we enhanced the security of their Microsoft 365 environment to embed longer-term resilience. Crucially, these changes were delivered in a way that preserved flexibility for staff and supported, rather than hindered, productivity.
